Lake County's Ernie Brown to be inducted into National Boxing Hall of Fame

Lake County resident Ernie Brown will be inducted into the National Boxing Hall of Fame on Oct. 3 2021, in Montebello California.

Ernie is a retired Navy veteran and was a Navy Boxing Champion. He also retired from the Lake County Sheriff's Department where he worked as a corrections officer. Ernie has been involved in boxing for over 42 years, working as a amateur coach, manager, trainer and a cutman. He currently works with the American Boxing Organization as a ranking supervisor.

Other inductees include Sugar Ray Leonard, Laila Ali, Jose Pipino Cuevas, Armando Munoz, Marvin Johnson, Leeroy Murphy, David Tua, Steve Farhood and others will make up the 2021 class.

This will be the rescheduled date from the original date in 2020. The event had to be postponed due to the pandemic. This will be Ernie's second Hall of Fame induction. He was inducted into the Illinois Boxing Hall of Fame in 2017.
