Bears' Mooney, Smith out of practice again

Bears linebacker Roquan Smith and receiver Darnell Mooney sat out practice Thursday at Halas Hall in Lake Forest.

Smith injured his elbow in the first quarter Sunday against the Green Bay Packers, while Mooney injured his ankle in the fourth quarter. Neither has practiced this week.

Bears head coach Matt Nagy has provided few details about either players' status heading into Sunday's wild card playoff game against the New Orleans Saints.

Receiver Cordarrelle Patterson (personal), receiver Allen Robinson (hamstring) and defensive back Buster Skrine (concussion) also missed practice Thursday.

Robinson has dealt with a hamstring injury for a couple weeks now but has not missed any game time. Skrine has not played or practiced since suffering a concussion Dec. 6 against Detroit.

Cornerback Jaylon Johnson was a limited participant in practice Thursday. Johnson has returned to practice this week for the first time since injuring his shoulder on Dec. 13 against the Houston Texans.

Defensive back Duke Shelley (knee) and linebacker Josh Woods (toe/glute) were also limited participants Thursday.

An injured elbow kept the Bears linebacker Roquan Smith out of practice again Thursday. ASSOCIATED PRESS
