Help give abused children a voice in court with CASA
CASA Kane County is offering volunteers an opportunity to change a child's life for the better.
Find out how to get involved in child advocacy at four general information meetings to start the new year.
The next hourlong informational meeting will be: 3 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 7; 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 28; 3 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 4; and 8 a.m. Friday, Feb. 24.

CASA has been advocating for children in the foster care system for more than 33 years and has served thousands of youth.
A volunteer's role can be big or small, and there are many ways to join the conversation:
• Talk to friends, family and colleagues about the obstacles facing foster youth and ways that our community can work together to provide support systems for them.
• Understand that children enter foster care through no fault of their own. The challenges that place children in care affect every social, economic and geographic community. No one is immune, and no one should face these challenges alone.
CASA applies child-to-child, case-to-case and CASA-volunteer-to-CASA-volunteer models to fit the specialized needs. By working directly with children and families in and out of the courtroom, CASA ensures children are treated with respect, patience and dignity in their journey to find permanency.

Annual Celebration
CASA Kane County has seen a dramatic rise in child abuse and neglect cases. The pandemic also has caused a drastic impact on the community, especially locally-owned restaurants.
This was the inspiration behind this year's "Children's Champion Celebration" fundraiser.
"Light Up the Town: Eat, Drink and Be Charitable" will be held in person in a socially responsible manner on Saturday, March 6, at locations throughout downtown Geneva around CASA's offices in the historic courthouse.
Proceeds will support the advocacy and resources for children in the foster care system.
