STREAKS, STATS AND NOTES - Both teams have been eliminated from playoff contention. '¦ The Patriots have won the past nine meetings. The Jets haven't won in Foxborough since 2008. '¦ The Jets have won two in a row after beginning the season with a franchise-record 13 straight losses. New York is looking for its first three-game winning streak since beating the Giants, Washington and Oakland in Games 9-11 last season. ... A win would give the Jets the second 3-13 finish in team history, joining the 1995 squad. They have never gone 2-14. ... Jets coach Adam Gase is 9-22 in two seasons with the Jets and is likely to be fired after the game. His .290 winning percentage is second worst in team history -- with only Rich Kotite (.125, 4-28) lower -- among Jets coaches who were with the team for more than one season. ... The Jets are on track to finish last in the NFL in total offense for the second straight year, a first in franchise history. They are averaging just 15 points and 275 yards per game. ... New York had its franchise-best streak of scoring on its first offensive possession end at eight games last Sunday. ... QB Sam Darnold has had an up-and-down season, but has not had a turnover in his last three games -- a personal best. He has three TD passes and no INTs in that span. ... The game could also mark the Jets finale for Darnold, whose future with the team is uncertain. With New York securing the No. 2 overall pick in the draft, it could opt to take a quarterback. ... RB Frank Gore was placed on injured reserve after bruising a lung against the Browns. The 37-year-old Gore is third on the NFL's career rushing list after finishing this season -- and possibly his last -- with exactly 16,000 yards. ... Rookie RB La'Mical Perine was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list after becoming the first Jets player to test positive during the regular season for the coronavirus. Ty Johnson and Josh Adams are expected to handle the backfield duties in the finale. ... K Sam Ficken struggled in his second game back after missing three with a groin injury. He had a 50-yard field goal blocked and clanked an extra point attempt off an upright. '¦ New England will be sitting out the playoffs for the first time since 2008. ... Coach Bill Belichick is 33-12 (32-11 with New England) all-time against the Jets. '¦ QB Cam Newton has struggled in his first season in New England, throwing just five touchdowns and 10 interceptions. He's thrown for fewer than 100 yards four times. Newton's 12 rushing TDs lead NFL quarterbacks. '¦ Newton enters the game 27 yards from breaking the franchise record for rushing yards by a quarterback set by Steve Grogan (539 yards) in 1978. '¦ RB Damien Harris is averaging 5.04 yards per carry (137 rushing attempts for 691 yards). Only four Patriots have finished with at least a 5.0 yard per carry average in a single season. '¦ CB J.C. Jackson has 10 takeaways (two fumble recoveries, eight interceptions), tied for second most in Patriots history. Only Ron Hall (2, 11) had more, back in 1964. Jackson's eight INTs rank second in the NFL. '¦ K Nick Folk has converted 26 consecutive field goal attempts, the longest streak of his career. He made 23 consecutive field goals in 2013 for the Jets. '¦ P Jake Bailey leads the NFL with a 46.1 net yards per punt average. '¦ PR Gunner Olszewski leads the NFL with an 18.2-yard punt return average. ... Fantasy tip: Jets WR Breshad Perriman set season highs in catches (5), receiving yards (101) and TDs (2) in the Week 9 meeting with New England. He is looking for his third game in a row against the Patriots with 50 or more receiving yards.
