Glenview Terrace approved to administer Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine

Glenview Terrace, a skilled nursing facility in Glenview, is among Illinois' first skilled nursing facilities allowed to issue COVID-19 vaccinations.

In accordance with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the facility at 1511 Greenwood Road was cleared to allow CVS Pharmacy to administer the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine to its health care workers, short-term rehabilitation patients and long-term residents.

The FDA approved the Pfizer vaccine on Dec. 11; Glenview Terrace started the vaccinations on Dec. 28.

"We can finally see the end of the tunnel," Glenview Terrace administrator Allen Hollander said in a release.

Glenview Terrace is offering the vaccine to all patients, residents and staff. Residents who are not mobile are given vaccines in their rooms.

Though vaccinations have begun at Glenview Terrace, indoor family visitations remain suspended until further notice from the Illinois Department of Public Health.
