West Dundee warns residents about coyote sightings

West Dundee officials are warning residents about recent coyote sightings in the area.

Specifically, residents in the Hills of West Dundee subdivision have reported seeing a group of three coyotes in their neighborhood, prompting concern about the safety of pets.

West Dundee officials stressed that coyotes are native to the area and typically don't pose a threat to people or pets as long as the coyotes are given ample space to roam. Residents are advised not to run from coyotes, but rather stand up straight, wave their arms or throw something to scare them away.

Small pets should not be left unattended outside, especially at night.
