Circle the date

Northbrook Village President Sandy Frum will present the annual "State of the Village" address from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 27.

This will be presented remotely, in the Zoom format.

This will be the final State of the Village address for Frum, whose term as president expires with the April 2021 election.

In what will be her 12th year as village president, she will note 2020 achievements and look into what 2021 will hold, and answer questions from attendees.

An effort to aid Northbrook restaurants continues through Dec. 31.

Customers who spend at least $50 at any Northbrook restaurant have a chance to win a $50 restaurant gift card. The request is to submit a photo of a receipt showing date of purchase and the order total to business@northbrook.il.us.

Every submitted receipt is one chance to win. Up to 10 winners (with a limit of one winner per residence per week) will be selected each Monday through Jan. 4 and will be notified by email.

'First' Friday

The Northbrook Chamber of Commerce & Industry's monthly networking meeting for chamber members, "First Friday," will actually be held on the second Friday in January, since the first is New Year's Day.

The chamber's initial networking session, held remotely, is scheduled for 7:30-9 p.m. Friday, Jan. 8, though casual networking stars at 7:15 p.m.

This meeting also will welcome members of the Deerfield Bannockburn Riverwoods Chamber of Commerce to join the Northbrook crew. The event will include a six-word challenge introduction for each participant, breakout rooms and trivia contests with prizes.

Identity theft totals

Capped by the nine cases for the period of Dec. 14-20, according to the Northfield Police Department, the department has had 75 identity theft cases related to unauthorized attempt to file for unemployment benefits through the Illinois Department of Employment Security (IDES).

Keep in line

The Cook County Board of Review is accepting property assessment appeals by residents of Northfield Township through Jan. 14. Any change in assessed value will directly impact the real estate taxes paid in 2021. This is the second year of the three-year Cook County assessment cycle.
