Kohl Children's Museum appoints new board chair
As Kohl Children's Museum celebrates its 35th anniversary, the museum welcomes Kim Bors as chair of the board of trustees. Bors, who has been on the board since 2016, is the sixth person to chair the board since the Glenview facility opened in 2005. She succeeds former museum board Chair John F. Ball Jr., who served in the role since 2017.
Bors currently serves as senior vice president chief human resources officer at Downers Grove-based Dover Corporation, a $7 billion, 24,000 employee diversified global manufacturer. Before that, she was senior vice president and chief human resources officer at The Mosaic Company, a $10 billion, 17,000 employee global mining and chemical processing company headquartered in Tampa, Florida.
Through her ever-expanding business network and as an industry speaker, Kim has held numerous volunteer and philanthropic advisory positions. In addition to her tenure on the museum board, she serves on the American Heart Association board of directors, where she spearheaded the highly successful 2019 Go Red for Women luncheon campaign for the Chicago metropolitan area. Professionally, Kim is an active member of The Economic Club of Chicago, former Human Resources Council Chair for the Manufacturers Alliance and former chairman of the board for the OMC Foundation Inc.
"I cannot think of a more qualified and passionate individual to step into the leadership role at the museum," Ball said. "Kim's history with the museum and talent in working with diverse teams to drive successful outcomes makes her a perfect candidate to steer the museum's activities. She is well-positioned to address the challenges facing a nonprofit institution in the difficult landscape of a pandemic environment. She clearly has her heart set on maintaining the mission of the museum, and continuing its impact as a leader in the field of early childhood education."
Kim lives in Lake Forest with her husband, Paul, and they have three grown children. She is a nationally ranked competitive ballroom dancer and enjoys all forms of high adventure experiences with her family.
