Thomas Schneider, Jr. Installed as 2021 President-elect of the Chicago Dental Society

Dr. Schneider Among Five New Board Officers Joining Chicago Dental Society Leadership

December 15, 2020 (CHICAGO) - With more than 30 years of experience as a practicing periodontist, Thomas Schneider, Jr., D.D.S., of Glenview, Illinois, was installed as President-elect of the Chicago Dental Society (CDS) on November 8. Previously, Dr. Schneider has held multiple leadership positions within CDS' Northwest Side Branch and served on numerous CDS committees.

As President-elect, Dr. Schneider will focus his efforts on membership and driving attendance for the 156th Midwinter Meeting, taking place virtually February 25-27, 2021. The Midwinter Meeting is CDS' annual scientific meeting and one of the dental industry's premier events. This year's virtual format will offer attendees access to courses taught by world-class speakers and today's leaders in dental innovation, live exhibits, and networking opportunities with colleagues and friends, all from the comfort and convenience of their office, home or even on the go.

Dr. Schneider graduated from the University of Illinois College of Dentistry and has a bachelor's and master's degree from Loyola University Chicago and Loyola University's School of Dentistry with a Specialty in Periodontics, respectively. In addition to his leadership roles with CDS, he is a member of the American Dental Association, Illinois State Dental Society, American Academy of Periodontology, Illinois Society of Periodontists, Midwest Society of Periodontology, The Odontographic Society of Chicago, and is a Fellow of both the International College of Dentists and the American College of Dentists.

Dr. Schneider has also taught dentistry for much of his 33-year career and is currently teaching in the Department of Periodontics at the University of Illinois Chicago College of Dentistry. He is also an active member of the Knights of Columbus. Dr. Schneider lives in Glenview, Illinois, with his wife, Sarah. They have two children, Peter and Margaret. When not practicing dentistry, Dr. Schneider enjoys woodworking, cars, boating, and is an avid fisherman.

Established in 1864, CDS is the largest local society of the American Dental Association, with more than 4,400 members in Cook, Lake and DuPage counties.
