Pakistani Physicians Society donates to Waukegan church
The Parroquia Luterana Sagrado Corazon Church in Waukegan recently received a donation to support children in need from the Pakistani Descent Physician Society.
The Pakistani Physicians Society, with collaboration of the Association of Pakistani Physicians of North America, provided funds for a project to support children in need in Waukegan. It was initiated by PPS, with funds matched by APPNA.
PPS was founded by Dr. Nasir Rana in 1979. The Pakistan Physicians Society is the local chapter of APPNA, one of the largest ethnic medical societies in North America. PPS is a nonprofit organization working toward the promotion of social, cultural, educational and humanitarian goals.
Pakistani Physician Society has been actively working during the pandemic to make a difference. This time, PPS raised funds and collaborated with APPNA to help Parroquia Luterana Sagrado Corazon Church, 658 Grand Ave., Waukegan. PPS donated a check in the amount of $4,000. The funds will be used to provide assistance to children in need in the city of Waukegan.
PPS President Dr. Amin Nadeem, President-Elect Dr. Samina Hijab and Farah Nadeem visited Waukegan City Hall to deliver a check to the pastor of the church. Also present were Mayor Sam Cunningham and Deputy Mayor Susana Figueroa.
The pastor and Waukegan mayor appreciated PPS efforts to assist the underprivileged population during these difficult times and indicated their willingness to work with PPS in the future as well.
PPS appreciates APPNA leadership, especially Dr. Aisha Zafar, chair of APPNA SWDRC, and Dr. Sajid Chaudhary, chair APPNA COVID-19 task force, for their continuous support to PPS during 2020.
