Young wants Bulls teammates to be ready for anything
As the Bulls got set to open the preseason against Houston Friday, veteran forward Thad Young said he wants to his teammates to be ready for anything.
"I think this is a huge opportunity for us because during the season if a team's stars catch COVID, that could be a difference-maker for teams like us and other teams to be able to get some easy victories and have a better record and stuff like that," Young said.
On the injury report released Friday afternoon, Young was listed out with a lower left leg infection. He'll join Garrett Temple (isolating after positive COVID test), Denzel Valentine (hamstring) and two-way player Adam Mokoka (not with team) on the sideline.
Bulls coach Billy Donovan said he planned to start Coby White, Zach LaVine, Otto Porter, Lauri Markkanen and Wendell Carter Jr. in the preseason opener.
It's been a short training camp, so the Bulls have had limited time to learn Donovan's system.
"I think it's super simple," Young said of the Donovan offense. "I think he gives everybody the opportunity to feel they're a part of the offense. I think another thing is it's a flow offense. It's a lot of movement and a lot of motion, and we can all make reads and cuts with the basketball or without the basketball.
"I think he's done a really good job of just breaking down every single thing we want to go out there and do - him and the coaching staff, they've been great."
