Northbrook news in brief
Date set for library reopening
The Northbrook Public Library plans to reopen to the public on Jan. 19. The library closed for in-person service on Nov. 12.
Upon reopening all areas of the library will be accessible, including the Youth Services department.
Until the building reopens, the library will continue to provide services including curbside pickup, printing from home, phone and email support, virtual programs, homebound service and digital resources such as e-books. Bookdrops also remain open daily, around the clock, for returns.
On Dec. 3 the library resumed its interlibrary loan service. In that, Northbrook Library card holders could place holds on libraries from other libraries and receive them through curbside pickup.
Go Green Northbrook
The next meeting of Northbrook's Climate Action Plan Team (CAPT) will be held at 6 p.m. Dec. 14, over Zoom. Though members of the public will not be able to access the meeting's "breakout groups," comments will be accepted at the start of the meeting, before CAPT members start their business.
A key part of CAPT's work is educating residents on the powerful impact of climate change, and solutions to address it.
A Zoom call-in number for the meeting is +1 301-715-8592 with a pass code of 950211. The meeting agenda will be on the Village of Northbrook website, www.northbrook,il.us, this week, officials said.
Future meetings are planned for 6 p.m. on Jan. 11, Feb. 8, March 8 and April 12.
New date for Lew Blond Memorial

The racecourse both begins and ends at Maple School, 2370 Shermer Road. It runs along Sherman Drive past Glenbrook North athletic facilities before entering neighborhood streets and emptying out onto Sherman Drive again. There also is a 1-mile run.
The initial reschedule date had been set for May 21, 2021.
