Report: White Sox acquire Lynn in trade from Rangers
The White Sox made a major upgrade in their starting rotation late Monday night, reportedly acquiring Lance Lynn from the Rangers in exchange for starter Dane Dunning and a minor-league prospect.
The 33-year-old Lynn tied for the American League lead with 10 quality starts last season. The right-hander also tied for third with 6 wins and ranked fifth with 89 strikeouts while posting a 3.32 ERA.
In 2019, Lynn finished fifth in American League Cy Young Award voting after going 16-11 with a 3.67 ERA in 33 starts for Texas.
Over nine seasons with the Rangers, Yankees, Twins and Cardinals, the 6-foot-5, 250-pounder is 104-71 with a 3.57 ERA.
Lynn likely slots in behind Lucas Giolito and Dallas Keuchel in the Sox's rotation.
After missing the entire 2019 season due to Tommy John surgery, Dunning made 7 starts for the White Sox last season and was 2-0 with a 3.97 ERA.
He started the deciding game of the playoffs for the Sox at Oakland and was lifted with two outs in the first inning after giving up 2 hits.
Along with Giolito and Reynaldo Lopez, Dunning was acquired in the trade that sent Adam Eaton to the Nationals four years ago.
