Bail set at $300,000 for Villa Park man accused of gunrunning

A 21-year-old Villa Park man accused of illegally selling multiple guns on four separate occasions is being held on $300,000 bail, DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin announced Friday in a news release.

Bruce Berrier of the 900 block of West North Avenue is charged with gunrunning, possession of a firearm by a street gang member and unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon.

An ongoing investigation by the North Central Narcotics Task Force identified Barrier as a suspect in illegal gun sales, according to the release. Between Sept. 28 and Nov. 24, Berrier sold four guns, ammunition and magazines, including one extended magazine, to undercover officers on four separate occasions in Roselle and Hanover Park, authorities said.

On Dec. 3, authorities executed a search warrant at his home and he was taken into custody.

"With gun violence continuing to plague our streets, we must do all we can to keep dangerous weapons out of the hands of convicted felons," Berlin said.

Berrier's next court appearance is scheduled for Dec. 21.
