Batavia animal rescue group sets “Santa Paws” fundraiser

Fifty raffle baskets will highlight Starfish Animal Rescue's 10th annual “Santa Paws” fundraiser from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 12.

The event will be held in the nonprofit's parking lot at 167 Oswalt Ave. in Batavia; enter off Bond Street.

The public is invited. Admission is free. Masks are required and raffle tables will be socially distanced.

Raffle tickets are $5 and include a carryout lunch.

In addition to raffle baskets, a bake sale will be held and hotdogs and hamburgers will be served.

An online basket raffle,“12 Days of Santa Paws,” featuring 12 baskets is underway. Baskets are raffled daily through Dec. 12.

Founded in 2006, Plainfield-based Starfish is a licensed nonprofit rescue that mobilizes volunteers to transport dogs, cats, puppies and kittens from high-kill shelters in Kentucky for fostering and adoption in Chicago-area homes.

Since its inception, Starfish has rescued almost 6,000 animals.
