Khalil Mack misses practice for second consecutive day
Bears outside linebacker Khalil Mack missed practice with a back injury for the second day in a row Thursday at Halas Hall in Lake Forest. Mack has not missed a game this year, though he has, at times, dealt with various minor injuries.
"Khalil, more than anything it's precautionary," Bears head coach Matt Nagy said Thursday. "I don't think it's anything that we're real concerned about."
Nagy said he's confident Mack will play Sunday against the Detroit Lions.
Defensive tackle Akiem Hicks returned to practice in a limited capacity for the first time since injuring his hamstring Nov. 16 against the Minnesota Vikings. The Bears missed Hicks in Sunday's loss to the Green Bay Packers. Without the Pro Bowl defensive tackle, the Packers rushed for 182 yards.
• Left tackle Charles Leno (toe) and offensive lineman Germain Ifedi (calf) were also limited in practice Thursday.
• Quarterback Nick Foles (hip) returned to full participation. Foles practiced in a limited role Wednesday for the first time since he was carted off the field against the Vikings two weeks ago. Nagy has already named Mitch Trubisky the starter for this week's game against the Lions.
Nagy said he thinks Foles will be good to go as the backup QB this week against Detroit.
