Schaumburg business hosts charity donation drive

As the holidays approach and the weather becomes colder, Collision Service Center of Schaumburg is finding ways to support local families and businesses by hosting its first charity donation drive for the Community Crisis Center in Elgin.

In an effort to help neighbors and businesses that are struggling, Collision Service Center of Schaumburg would like to extend an invitation to anyone wishing to join in this effort to serve those neighbors in need.

The mission of the Community Crisis Center is to provide safety, hope, advocacy, respite and education for those impacted by crisis and violence in the Fox Valley Region and Illinois. This includes, Elgin, Schaumburg, Hoffman Estates and surrounding towns.

It also provides for the needs of the women and children within the shelter, and for the homeless that come needing food or warm clothing.

These are some items the center needs most. Due to COVID restrictions only new items can be accepted: men's gloves, warm scarves; toiletry items for men and women such as soap, deodorant, toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo; nonperishable food, especially single serve foods for the homeless without a means to cook or prepare food, such as canned food with pop off tops; diapers, especially the larger sizes, 3, 4, 5 or pull ups; and new, unwrapped toys such as stuffed animals, dolls, trucks, cars, Legos, games, craft items, crayons, coloring books and any other new children's toys.

Donated items can be dropped off from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday through Friday through Dec. 16 at the Collision Service Center of Schaumburg, 924 Morse Ave., Schaumburg.

Those making donations will be entered into a raffle for gift certificates to local family restaurants. The gift certificates have been donated by Collision Service Center of Schaumburg to help support local businesses.

The drawing will be held Thursday, Dec. 17, and winners do not need to be present. Winners will be notified and also posted on Collision Service Center of Schaumburg's Facebook page.

"We are so grateful to those who are able to support us in this effort, and will continue to look for ways to give back to the community that have been so generous to us," said Ernie and Aurora De Loera, owners of Collision Service Center of Schaumburg.
