Schaumburg man dies from injuries in Buffalo Grove crash

A Schaumburg man who was hit by a car Nov. 13 in Buffalo Grove has died, police said.

Francis Smolen, 68, was crossing the street about 8 p.m. near the Plaza Verde shopping center on Arlington Heights Road south of Dundee Road when he was hit by a 2020 Nissan Rogue driven by a Buffalo Grove man.

Smolen, who suffered severe head injuries, was pronounced dead Thursday afternoon at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge.

The case remains under investigation.
