Titans will be without 3-time Pro Bowl punter Brett Kern

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - The Tennessee Titans will be without their three-time Pro Bowl punter Brett Kern and wide receiver Adam Humphries on Sunday against the Chicago Bears.

The Titans declared Kern out Friday after he hurt his right wrist late in last week's 31-20 loss in Cincinnati. Kern has only missed two games since joining Tennessee in 2009, and he has played 175 games for the Titans. Kern ranks fifth in the NFL averaging 48.3 yards per punt in his 13th season.

Tennessee will be working out some punters Saturday after players clear the COVID-19 testing protocols.

'œWe'll have some guys in here tomorrow and see how they kick the ball, and then pick one and go with them for the game,'ť Titans coach Mike Vrabel said.

Kern also is Tennessee's holder on field goals. Quarterback Ryan Tannehill currently is listed as the backup holder. The Titans signed long snapper Matt Orzech off Miami's practice squad Thursday, though he won't be available until after the game due to testing protocols.

Linebacker Jadeveon Clowney did not practice all week because of an injured knee. He's questionable for Sunday's game.

'œTrying to do what's best for him and best for the football team, and that was to give him a couple of days of rest,'ť Vrabel said. 'œWe'll see where he's at tomorrow, and at 10:30 Sunday, make a decision on the 48 guys that go to the game.'ť

Humphries is working his way through the concussion protocol. He was hit on a catch in Cincinnati and was taken off the field on a cart.

'œWe've always taken these concussion protocol players very seriously,'ť Vrabel said. 'œThey'll work their way through the protocol. There's zero pressure for them to get back quicker than what they should.'ť
