Police: Man attacked woman in Cary park

Cary police are looking for a man who attempted to harm a woman in Hoffman Park Monday afternoon.

The attack occurred about 4:20 p.m. on a path in the park near the intersection of West Main Street and Jefferson Lane, according to a news release from the Cary Police Department.

The woman told officers she was approached by a man after he signaled to her while she was running. When she stopped, the man put his hands on her jacket below her neck, according to the release. She pushed him away and fled the scene.

The suspect is described as an Eastern Indian man about 35-40 years old, standing 5'10”, wearing a blue turban and carrying a 18” to 24” stick in his hand, the release said.
