Woven Together: One Town, One Day, One Read

The Mount Prospect Public Library Woven Together Community Read initiative brings together children and educators to celebrate great works of literature and encourage a love of reading. The first featured book, “Blue Sky, White Stars” by Sarvinder Naberhaus is an inspiring piece that celebrates the iconic imagery of the United States. The library offers a variety of programs and activities to support this village wide experience.

The library invites children and their families to attend an Outdoor Community Read Storytime at Pocket Park (Edwin and Elsie Meyn Busse Park), located at Emerson Street and Busse Avenue, 10 a.m. Wednesday, October 28. Each attendee will receive their own copy of the book. Later that evening, the library welcomes the author, Sarvinder Naberhaus, for a virtual visit at 7 p.m. presented using Zoom. Naberhaus will share a read-aloud of her book and answer questions from the audience. Registered children attending will also receive their own copy of the book to keep. Registration is required for both programs.

Throughout the month of October, children may discover fun library activities with themes from “Blue Sky, White Stars.” Crafts-to-Go kits and Tech Take Homes are available while supplies last. Cardholders may pick up activities at the Youth Services Department desk or South Branch.
