Water main repairs cause lane closures on Route 64 in St. Charles

Drivers on Route 64 in St. Charles will experience delays through Wednesday afternoon due to lane closures caused by water main repairs.

The city announced the eastbound lanes of Route 64 from Lakeside Drive to Kirk Road will be closed, as well as the right-turn lane from Route 64 to Kirk Road. The closures began at 1 p.m. Monday and will continue until 3 p.m. Wednesday as the city's Public Works Water Division makes repairs that require temporary lane reconfiguration.

Water service will not be affected by the water main repairs.

Because of the construction truck traffic and the heavy commuter traffic caused by the lane closures, drivers should consider alternate routes. Lakeside Drive can be used to access businesses such as Panera Bread and First American Bank.
