Mount Prospect Fire Department hosts food drive Oct. 17

The Mount Prospect Fire Department hopes to restock the village's Emergency Food Pantry through a food drive scheduled for 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17.

The drive will take place at the front entrance of Costco in Randhurst Village, 999 N. Elmhurst Road, Mount Prospect.

Items being sought include: baby diapers; canned beef stew, chicken and dumplings; spam; canned tuna, meats and chicken; canned fruit and fruit cups; canned ravioli and spaghetti; canned beans and corn; cereal; coffee/tea/cocoa; cookies; crackers; instant mashed potatoes; jam and jelly; juice or juice boxes; paper towels, napkins and toilet paper; peanut butter; pudding and pudding cups; pasta sides; school lunch snacks; spaghetti and tomato sauce.

Homemade food or items past their expiration dates cannot be accepted. Please do not donate cans over 32 ounces or packages over 5 pounds. For more information about the food drive and the emergency food pantry, visit mountprospect.org.
