Mount Prospect Fire Dept. to host food drive Oct. 17

The Mount Prospect Fire Department is restocking the village's Emergency Food Pantry with the help of the Mount Prospect community.

From 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, the fire and human services departments will host a food drive in the front entrance of Costco in Randhurst Village. Residents are encouraged to pick up an item or two from the list below while shopping at Costco.

The food pantry needs the following items:

• Baby diapers (all sizes)

• Canned beef stew, chicken & dumplings, SPAM, etc.

• Canned tuna, meats and chicken

• Canned fruit and fruit cups

• Canned ravioli, spaghetti, etc.

• Canned beans

• Canned corn

• Cereal

• Coffee/tea/cocoa

• Cookies

• Crackers

• Instant mashed potatoes

• Jam and jelly

• Juice or juice boxes

• Paper towels, napkins and toilet paper

• Peanut butter

• Pudding and pudding cups

• Pasta sides

• School lunch snacks

• Spaghetti sauce

• Tomato sauce

Homemade food or items past their expiration dates cannot be accepted. Please do not donate cans over 32 ounces or packages over 5 pounds.
