Officials: Northbrook man died of accidental drug toxicity

A Northbrook man found dead July 20 at his workplace died from an accidental combined drug toxicity, officials said.

Anatoly Spivak, 37, of the 1800 block of Mission Hills Lane, died at 1:06 a.m. July 20 at Haus Mortgage, 1240 Meadow Road. Spivak's LinkedIn profile lists him as a senior loan consultant at Haus Mortgage since September 2018.

According to a village news release, police and firefighters were unable to resuscitate Spivak, who had stopped breathing. There were no signs of violence, the news release said.

After an autopsy on July 21, the case was referred for a toxicology examination, according to a Cook County medical examiner's spokesperson.

Northbrook Police confirmed another person had been taken into custody on the morning of July 20, but that person was released. Police said the case is still classified as an ongoing investigation.
