Be a CASA volunteer to help a child in foster care

CASA Kane County has been advocating for children in the foster care system for more than 32 years and has served thousands of youth struggling through the most horrific times in their lives.

They need your help more than ever to help these children survive and to find permanency.

Consider how you could fit into a team helping foster youth succeed. Could you fill a direct service role of a CASA/GAL volunteer? Would you be willing to help in another way?

In working directly with children and families in and out of the courtroom, CASA Kane County ensures they are treated with respect, patience and dignity while working together to find permanency.

"My CASA volunteer went above and beyond the call of duty. I believe that everyone is born with the ability to succeed, but that some fail to meet their potential. As youth in care, we need more support to know what we are capable of because we often feel we are less than average. My CASA volunteer provided that encouragement and support," said one CASA child.

The next general information meetings are: 5 to 6:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 21, at the Geneva Winery; 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 23, at Village Tavern and Grill in South Elgin; or 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 29, at the Wine Exchange in St. Charles.

Online general informational meetings also will be offered from 3 to 4 p.m. Thursdays, Oct. 1 and Nov. 5.

At these meetings, you will hear more about the CASA Kane County organization, the role of the CASA/GAL volunteer and other areas of how to get involved.
