Sox SS Anderson fired up for big series: 'These are the moments you want to be in'

Since joining the White Sox in early June of 2016, Tim Anderson not been on a playoff team.

The 27-year-old shortstop has not even been on a winning team, but that's changed this season.

Heading into Monday night's first installment of a big four-game series against the Twins, the Sox had the best record (30-16) in the American League and a magic number of 6 to clinch a postseason berth.

"These are the moments you want to be in," said Anderson, who leads the American League with a .362 average as he tries to win his second straight batting title. "Tonight, it's playoff ball, really. It really goes out to see who wants it the baddest.

"We're going to compete. It's been showing, we've been playing real well. So hopefully we can put together a win tonight and beat a pretty good ballclub."

Backed by a powerful offense, the White Sox have been beating up on most teams on their schedule this season.

They've had trouble with Minnesota and are 2-4 against the Twins, who finished first in the AL Central last year.

"They swung the bats last year pretty good, and that's something we're doing this year as well," Anderson said. "But being able to beat teams at all angles, whether it's on the basepaths, whether it's pitching, hitting or whatever it is, there's always a way that you can beat a team.

"And being able to show it and going out competing every day at a high level and separate yourself, being different. I think we've got a lot of athletes on the team that have definitely separated themselves from a lot of other guys that are on other teams. I think we've got one of the better ballclubs, if you look from top to bottom."
