Bank of America Provides 52,000 Face Masks to Communities across Chicagoland

In communities across the country, Bank of America has been working with local partners to provide resources to vulnerable and underserved communities hardest hit by the coronavirus.

The communities in and around Chicago are experiencing a significant increase in the number of coronavirus cases and Bank of America is partnering with the Chicago Park District, My Chi. My Future. and The Rush Community Service Initiative Program to provide personal protective equipment, specifically 52,000 masks.

This donation is part of a nationwide effort by Bank of America to immediately distribute nearly four million PPE masks to communities disproportionally impacted by the coronavirus, including communities of color, and is connected to its $1 billion, four-year commitment of additional support to help local communities address economic and racial inequality accelerated by a global pandemic. This is in addition to the four million masks the company donated earlier this year in cities across the country.

“The health and safety of our Chicago employees, clients and communities remains our top priority during this health and humanitarian crisis,” said Paul Lambert, Chicago market president. “One of the ways we continue to help is by working with local partners to identify and distribute PPE masks to the most vulnerable populations, such as to neighborhoods with poor air quality, low-to-moderate income families unable to acquire proper masks, and communities of color in addition to frontline workers, schools and health centers serving these communities.”

Below is more information about how the 52,000 masks will be distributed in Chicago:

• 16,000 to the Chicago Park District that will be allocated in three regions to the employees serving parks in those areas.

• 30,000 to The Rush Community Service Initiative Program, a unique Rush University student volunteer program, who provided needed PPE to the unsheltered community.

• 6,000 to My Chi. My Future., Mayor Lightfoot's signature youth-facing initiative, who will distribute the masks during various special events in the Back of the Yards community including weekly food pantries and census pop-ups.
