Ross doesn't want Cubs hyping crosstown rivalry

Manager David Ross was asked about the notion the White Sox get more fired up for the crosstown rivalry than the Cubs. The theory is the Sox feel overlooked in the city, so beating the Cubs is a big deal for the South Siders.

"I've heard that narrative," Ross said. "To be honest, just me personally, I want to kick everybody's butt on the other side. It doesn't matter what uniform they have on.

"Something that I think is a big part of winning and success that I've been a part of is that you come to kick everybody's butt on a daily basis and the moment you start putting one uniform above the other, then you're doing yourself a disservice. You should come to work every day trying to win the game and play as hard as you can."

Since interleague play began in 1995, the White Sox own a 62-60 lead in the series with the Cubs after Friday's 10-1 victory.

"That's the way I hope our guys look at it, that's the way I looked at it later in my career when I learned about what it was like to be on a championship caliber team," Ross said. "We want to win them all. If we start taking one team lighter than the other or vice versa, that's not the brand of baseball we want to play here for the Cubs."
