Robert hand/wrist injury doesn't concern White Sox

In 2018, his first full minor-league season with the White Sox, Luis Robert suffered a left hand/wrist injury during spring training, missed three months and never was able to hit for power when he did get back on the field.

Now a star rookie for the Sox, Robert injured his right hand/wrist trying to make a diving catch in Tuesday's win over the Tigers.

The 23-year-old center fielder had to leave the game and Robert was held out Wednesday night.

Unlike the first hand go-round, this one is not considered serious. An X-ray came back clean and Robert could be back in the lineup Thursday when the White Sox wrap up a four-game series against Detroit.

"He's been checked out thoroughly," manager Rick Renteria said. "He was just a little sore, so out of an abundance of caution we're going to let him get treated up all day today. My hope is he'll be able to get back into the lineup tomorrow.

"I'm not making any promises, I think everybody would like to see him back in there, but nothing of significant concern whatsoever. Treat him up and let the soreness get worked out of there."
