Bloomingdale cancels Septemberfest, fireworks

Bloomingdale has canceled its Sept. 12 Septemberfest celebration and fireworks show due to ongoing concerns with COVID-19.

It's only the second time in 48 years that Septemberfest has been canceled - the first was in 2010 due to village budget constraints caused by a national recession.

Numerous vendors had informed the village they would not participate this year because of restrictions on crowd size and the village's insurance carrier told officials it would not insure the event.
