A glimpse at Glenview Library Director Vickie Novak

Glenview Public Library Director Vickie Novak's 18-year term with Glenview caps a 46-year professional career leading public libraries, first in the Acorn Public Library District in Oak Forest, then in Calumet City, where she grew up.

Her love of libraries began long before that, starting as a book shelver at 15.

Born in Chicago and a graduate of since-closed Elizabeth Seton High School in South Holland, Novak earned a bachelor's degree at Quincy University, majoring in Spanish with minors in library science and secondary education.

She gained her master's of science degree in library science at the University of Kentucky.
