Wheaton City Hall reopening to general public Monday

Visitors to Wheaton city hall will see some changes when the building reopens to the general public Monday after limiting access due to COVID-19.

All visitors to city hall and the police department must wear face coverings in accordance with state guidelines.

A one-way traffic pattern through city hall will enable visitors and staff to remain at least 6 feet apart. All visitors also must enter from the north entrance of city hall, which is the parking lot side of the building further north on Wheaton Avenue.

At the building or finance department counters, visitors should follow signs directing them to corresponding lines and stand on floor markings that designate 6 feet of distance from the next person in line. Those departments will have uniform hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.

The city has installed glass partitions at public-facing department counters. Hand sanitizer also will be available.

When leaving, visitors will follow signs to proceed toward the south doors of city hall.

Residents can still make utility bill payments, pay parking tickets and submit general city bill payments on the city's website at Wheaton.il.us/billpay.

Or, they can use the drive-through drop box just west of city hall (the entrance is off Wesley Street) for submitting bills.
