Prince of Peace UMC in Elk Grove Says Good-Bye to Pastor Cerna Castro Rand

After serving as Pastor of Prince of Peace United Methodist Church in Elk Grove Village for the past nine years, Pastor Cerna Castro Rand has been appointed as Pastor of First United Methodist Church in LaGrange. Her new appointment takes effect on July 1, 2020.

Pastor Cerna came to Prince of Peace in July, 2011 after serving as an Associate Pastor for First United Methodist Church at the Chicago Temple for seven years. Prior to that she served as Associate Pastor and Minister of Christian Education at Grace UMC in Lake Bluff, Illinois.

Pastor Cerna is well known in the Elk Grove community as a member of Rotary Club, Community Character Coalition of Elk Grove and Interfaith Council. Pastor Cerna also volunteered as a certified grief counselor at Admiral Byrd Elementary School in Elk Grove. Mayor Johnson and the Elk Grove Village Board declared September 8, 2019, as Cerna Castro Rand Day in Elk Grove Village to mark her years at Prince of Peace and for her outstanding community service.

As the Prince of Peace Church family sadly says good-bye to Pastor Cerna it will welcome Reverend Robyn Tabb as its new pastor on July 1, 2020. Pastor Tabb comes to Prince of Peace from Resurrection UMC in Chicago, where she served as pastor for 3 years.
