NapervilleGives.org to host GivingTuesdayNOW event May 5
To respond to the unprecedented need of all Naperville nonprofit organizations, NapervilleGives.org, a directory of more than 50 local nonprofits, is publicizing Tuesday, May 5, as #GivingTuesdayNOW, a global day of giving and unity.
The day is designed to drive an influx of generosity, citizen engagement, business and philanthropy activation, and support for communities and nonprofits affected by the COVID-19 crisis.
"At a time when all of our citizens are experiencing the effects of this pandemic, our helpers, Naperville's wide spectrum of nonprofit organizations, are being challenged by dramatic increases in demand for the social services that they provide, while at the same time, being faced with gaps in the monetary and physical resources they have to meet those demands," said Mayor Steve Chirico.
Chirico continued, "NapervilleGives.org connects not only those in need in our community to the variety of services provided by our nonprofits, but they also provide a directory for donors and volunteers to connect to nonprofit groups so that they can more tangibly help the helpers. #GivingTuesdayNOW on Tuesday, May 5 can be a trigger to make a more powerful connection with a Naperville nonprofit group in this time of extreme need."
Generosity gives everyone the power to make a positive change in the lives of others and is a fundamental value anyone can act on. At a time when we are all experiencing the pandemic, generosity is what brings people of all races, faiths, and political views together in Naperville.
Kaylin Risvol, d president and CEO of the Naperville Area Chamber of Commerce, joins the call to action to help the helpers on Tuesday, May 5, #GivingTuesdayNOW by saying, "Naperville is a community rich in generosity - filled with people who get involved and want to help others and businesses that give back. Historically we have worked together to help Naperville's nonprofit organizations be financially viable so they can provide their services and focus on their purpose over profit. In this challenging time, we support NapervilleGives.org and Tuesday, May 5 - #GivingTuesdayNOW as a demonstration that we are stronger together."
The participating nonprofit organizations encourage community members to visit NapervilleGives.org to find a nonprofit organization that could provide the help that they might need or to discover how they can support, through volunteering or donation, a local nonprofit organization. And if able, consider making a donation to a local nonprofit for #GivingTuesdayNOW, a global day of giving and unity that will take place on May 5.
NapervilleGives.org is dedicated to the mission of supporting neighbors and celebrating philanthropy for local impact.
