State of emergency declared in Vernon Hills
Vernon Hills Mayor Roger Byrne declared a state of emergency Thursday after the village board amended the village code to allow him to do so. The ordinance allows municipal services to continue during emergency situations, such as when a quorum of village trustees is not available to make decisions. The emergency declaration is temporary. It allows employee scheduling, bill paying and delivery of essential items, for example, to continue.
