Schaumburg native selected for prestigious Al Golin Fellowship

Julia D'Etienne of Schaumburg is one of nine students selected by Roosevelt University for the prestigious Al Golin Fellowship Program.

Golin, a global public relations agency headquartered in Chicago, started the Al Golin Fellowship Program with Roosevelt in 2019, in order to carry on agency founder and late PR industry pioneer Al Golin's legacy of diversity and inclusion.

The fellowship will introduce D'Etienne and eight other Roosevelt student fellows from diverse backgrounds to the latest practices and trends in the PR industry and provide them with opportunities for networking, internships and mentoring with major companies and senior PR executives.

D'Etienne is a 2016 graduate of Schaumburg High School. A transfer student from Harper College in Palatine, she started at Roosevelt in 2018, and will graduate with a Bachelor of Arts in Integrated Marketing Communications degree in May.

As a Roosevelt student, D'Etienne hosts her own talk show, "The tea with Julia D," which is currently being created and produced for the Roosevelt University YouTube Channel. She also routinely volunteers for the nonprofit, Feed My Starving Children, in Schaumburg.

"We are proud of Julia as one of our student fellows and have high hopes for what she can accomplish," said Marian Azzaro, associate professor of integrated marketing communications and a coordinator of the fellowship program at Roosevelt.

"She and all of the fellows selected for this program are among the best of Roosevelt's students and are representatives of our next generation of progressive and ethical leaders aligned with the University's social justice mission," Azzaro said.
