Area unit members attend annual state conference

Elgin residents Nancy Haire and Joan Rossi of the Plato Center Unit, Pat Kowalkowski of the Country Cousins Elburn Unit, and Mari Curless and Naomi Redman of the Kennedy Aurora Unit are representing the Kane County Association of Home and Community Education at the 95th annual Illinois Association for Home and Community Education Conference.

The conference is being held March 10-12 at the Thelma Keller Convention Center in Effingham.

Through the years, Home and Community Education has changed with the current times, trends or needs. It was first known as Home Bureau Foundation, the Homemakers Extension Association and today, it is Home and Community Education. Its mission is promoting education, social engagement and well-being in the community.

Illinois Association for Home and Community Education continues to cross the boundaries when presenting innovative ideas for the lessons providing members opportunities to learn current and relevant information provided by the University of Illinois, through the Kane County Extension in St. Charles. The state and county officers educate members with important information that allows them to work, support and promote the community in which they serve.

The members attending this year's conference will be able to choose from 25 different lessons.

Members will be taking all this information back to their own counties to share with members who could not attend the conference.
