Hunter named at Elementary South

Christy Hunter has been named principal at Elementary South in Hawthorn District 73. Hunter, who has been assistant principal at the school for eight years, will assume her new post July 1. At that point, Principal Jill Martin, will become the principal of the new Hawthorn School for Young Learners, the district's kindergarten building scheduled to open later this year. Hunter has been an educator for 16 years. She played a key role in the school's successful effort to become a 2019 National Blue Ribbon School, Superintendent Pete Hannigan said.
