Celebrate National Meatball Day - Swedish style with children's choir

Celebrate National Meatball Day Swedish style with a benefit dinner for the Swedish American Children's Choir from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, March 7, at Bethany Lutheran Church, 8 S. Lincoln St. in Batavia.

The dinner will feature Swedish meatballs and gravy, mashed potatoes, vegetables, lingonberries, Swedish rye bread and Swedish desserts. New this year will be the vegetarian option of vegetable balls.

Featured will be Swedish and American baked goods for sale as well as a Swedish Dala painter.

In addition there will be special guest entertainment.

All proceeds from the event benefit the choir performance tour fund.

The choir, in its 20th year, is the largest of its kind in the Midwest. It features children, age 4-17, from the Fox Valley and surrounding suburbs. They present performances of Swedish songs and Scandinavian dances throughout the area and beyond.

Dinner tickets are by reservation only and carryout orders are available.

Tickets are $13, $6 for children, age 3 to 10. Kids under 3 get in free.
