Take back democracy

Emboldened by Republican senators ignoring his blatant corruption, Trump has doubled down on his abuse of our constitution and the rule of law and common decency. In retribution for the highly respected officer's honest testimony in the president's impeachment hearings, Trump fired Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman. Trump's hand-picked attorney general, William Barr, has intervened for leniency in the sentencing of a convicted key player in Trump's nefarious political schemes. What will become of our democracy if we don't say no to these abuses of power and act now to ensure that they never happen again?

Rep. Sean Casten supported, and the U.S. House of Representatives has already passed, a comprehensive set of anti-corruption, election security, and political reforms known as The For the People Act (also known as H.R. 1). This bill will make sure our elected officials, including President Donald Trump, are working for U.S. and not using our government to further their own personal interests. It is time for Mitch McConnell to bring this bill to the floor of the Senate for a vote.
