Greetings from Spring Training: Weather or not

GLENDALE, Ariz. - Spring training is all about players getting ready for the long grind of the upcoming regular season.

There is batting practice, pitchers throwing sidelines, fielding drills, bunting, sliding and lots of running and stretching.

The weather is going to be bad at the start of the season, it always is. With play starting March 26 this year, it's probably going to be really bad.

Spring training came in handy on that front as well Saturday. Scheduled to play their first Cactus League game, the White Sox were rained out.

The Cubs have a new TV station (Marquee Sports Network) to launch, so they pushed Saturday's game back and played the A's at night.

The skies cleared late Saturday afternoon in the Valley of the Sun, but David Ross missed his first game as Cubs manager.

He was under the weather.
