Greetings from Spring Training: Not a pathetic night after all

PHOENIX — So it's Valentine's Day evening Friday, and instead of being out for dinner with my wife, I was at a laundromat.

Good times.

Coin Less Laundry was pretty high tech, and it took longer to figure out how to get the machine started than the actual wash.

The night wasn't a complete, pathetic waste.

In the plaza next door, I stumbled upon Tom's BBQ, which advertised “Chicago Style” underneath the main outdoor sign.

Walking in and hearing Stevie Wonder and Al Green was almost as good as the brisket.

I also noted the Cubs and White Sox signs in the restaurant, as well as the guy wearing “The Greatest Game Ever Played Was On A Wednesday In Cleveland” T-shirt.

It felt like home and tasted like home, and when I returned to the laundromat, my clothes were still there and completely dry.

That's a win-win.
