Glendale Heights man pleads guilty to stabbings at 2015 graduation party

A 23-year-old Glendale Heights man on Tuesday pleaded guilty to stabbing two people - one fatally - at a 2015 graduation party, officials said.

Alberto Jimenez, of the 500 block of Gregory Avenue, was charged with first-degree murder and aggravated battery for killing 19-year-old Tehavis Price of Aurora and wounding Verkita Vargas, then 19, of Chicago, outside a Glenbard West student's graduation party June 6, 2015, on the 2N300 block of Prairie Avenue near Glen Ellyn, according to a news release from the DuPage County state's attorney's office.

Price was stabbed six times - three in the chest and once each in the side, groin and shoulder - with a folding pocket knife as he tried protect Vargas, who was his girlfriend, after Jimenez attacked her, according to the release.

Jimenez, who has a violent criminal history as both an adult and juvenile, fled but was arrested the following day in Hanover Park.

Jimenez has been held in DuPage County jail on $3 million bail since his arrest. His next court appearance is scheduled for Feb. 25.
