Police: 3 wounded, 2 guns recovered in shooting in West Chicago
West Chicago police have recovered two handguns in their investigation into a Friday afternoon shooting in which three people were injured, according to the department.
Police said in a social media post that officers responded to the area of Hawthorne Lane and Rosewood Drive on the city's northeast side at 12:58 p.m. for a report of shots fired and that a vehicle possibly involved had driven away.
Police said they located the vehicle a short time later, but the driver refused to stop. Police gave chase and the driver ended up crashing and was arrested after a short foot chase, police said.
The driver was taken to a hospital for injuries suffered before being arrested, police said.
Authorities said they were investigating and that three people, none of whom is from West Chicago, suffered gunshot wounds; one person has been released and two others are being treated at a hospital.
West Chicago police could not immediately be reached Friday night for comment.
