The Moorings of Arlington Heights Names Dr. Leo Kanev as Medical Director

Arlington Heights, IL, December 17, 2019: Today, The Moorings of Arlington Heights, A Presbyterian Homes community, announced Dr. Leo Kanev has been appointed Medical Director. In this role, Kanev will provide guidance and leadership to interdisciplinary medical teams and coordinate with The Moorings' administration to achieve medical care goals and ensure that residents continue to receive the very best in medical care.

Kanev is a board-certified family physician who specializes in geriatrics, received his medical degree from Rush Medical College in Chicago, and completed his Family Medicine residency at Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge. In addition to his role at The Moorings of Arlington Heights, Kanev will also be joining the Northwest Community Hospital Medical Group in January 2020.

Kanev will also bring his nurse practitioner, Deyan Ortwig, to the medical team. Ortwig holds national certification with the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (ANCC), is an active member of professional organizations to include the American College of Nurse Practitioners and The Society for Post-Acute and Long-Term Care Medicine (AMDA), completed her Bachelors of Nursing and Doctoral Nurse Practitioner degree at Rush University in Chicago, Illinois, and has been practicing for over 20 years within the Chicagoland area. Ortwig continuously works to provide medical care that is evidenced-based and her areas of interest include women's health, thyroid disease, cardiovascular and geriatric medicine.
