Cities and villages in the suburbs held tree lighting ceremonies and holiday celebrations including Lincolnshire, Streamwood, Hanover Park, West Dundee, Naperville, Lake Zurich, North Chicago, Schaumburg, Des Plaines, Bloomingdale, Geneva, Wauconda, Bartlett, East Dundee and Mundelein.

Since 1994, Lombard resident Jesse Marzell has played his baritone in TubaChristmas concerts at various locations in the United States. With commemorative buttons to prove it, Marzell noted he has played in Pittsburgh and Baltimore and travels to Chicago, Barrington, West Dundee and Naperville to participate in the annual holiday concert that celebrates individuals who play, teach, and compose music for the tuba family of instruments.
