Dr. Michael Durbin Installed as 2020 Vice President of the Chicago Dental Society

With nearly 30 years of experience in orthodontics, Dr. Michael Durbin will serve as Vice President of the Chicago Dental Society (CDS). He and other Board members were sworn in at a ceremony held on Sunday, November 17, at the Four Seasons Hotel. Dr. Durbin has previously served as Treasurer and Northwest Suburban Branch Director on the CDS Board and has held multiple leadership positions within CDS' Northwest Suburban Branch.

As Vice President, Dr. Durbin will focus his efforts on membership and attendance at the 155th Midwinter Meeting, taking place February 20-22, 2020, at McCormick Place West. The Midwinter Meeting is CDS' annual scientific meeting and one of the largest exhibitions of dental products and professional dentistry in North America - attracting nearly 30,000 attendees and generating more than $30 million for the local economy in 2019.

Dr. Durbin has a bachelor's degree from Loyola University Chicago and earned his dental degree and a Master of Science in orthodontics from the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Dentistry. He serves on the American Association of Orthodontists Board of Trustees and is a member of the Midwestern Society of Orthodontists, Illinois Society of Orthodontists, American Dental Association and the Illinois State Dental Society. Dr. Durbin also previously served as President of the Illinois Society of Orthodontists from 2014 to 2015.

Dr. Durbin lives in Prospect Heights with his wife, Dr. Renee Pappas, who is also a dentist and CDS member. They have two children, Kristen and Peter, who are both first year medical and dental residents, respectively. In his free time, Dr. Durbin enjoys sports, snowmobiling, boating, and spending time with his family.

Established in 1864, CDS is the largest local society of the American Dental Association, with more than 4,400 members in Cook, Lake and DuPage counties.
