Fox Lake cancels Festival of Lights due to rainy forecast

Fox Lake's Festival of Lights winter market, parade and tree lighting that were scheduled for Saturday have been canceled because of rain in the forecast, the village announced Friday afternoon.

The village is in the process of determining if the tree lighting will be rescheduled but at this time the parade and the winter market won't be.

The decision to cancel was not made lightly, according to a news release issued by the village. Along with the forecast calling for 30 mph wind gusts, the village said there was an 80% to 90% chance of rain starting in the early afternoon and continuing into the evening. The rain might total two inches, according to the village.

Village staff will contact every participant, vendor and volunteer to notify them of the cancellation, according to the news release, which was also posted on the village's Facebook page.
