TriCity Family Services' Adopt-a-Family Thanksgiving program sets new record

TriCity Family Services, a trusted partner that offers counseling services and mental health programs for children, teens, families and community members throughout Central Kane County, is helping a record-number of client families in need this November through its Adopt-a-Family Thanksgiving Program.

During the 2019 season of giving, the agency reported that it is providing 63 families with food baskets, which includes 143 adults and 122 children. Last year, the Adopt-a-Family Thanksgiving Program helped 54 families in need, which included 110 adults and 128 children.

Each year, TriCity Family Services proudly gives its low-income and struggling families a big helping hand, beyond the counseling and supportive services they may receive on a regular basis.

For those who are experiencing a difficult time and are in need of financial help during the holiday season, the agency secures a corporate sponsor to donate a turkey for each family, and the community and individuals provide the remainder of the holiday meal fixings for a Thanksgiving dinner.

In addition to food, donors often provide other pantry essentials, gift cards and special treats for households with children.

With the generous support of more than 60 sponsors this year, the Thanksgiving needs of clients are being met.

Sponsors include: Berkshire Hathaway Starck Real Estate; FT Cares Foundation; Geneva Family Dental; Geneva High School Leos Club and Ambassadors; Houghton Mifflin Harcourt; RE/MAX Excels; Tri-City Tikes, and Wituk Martial Arts. Additionally, for every new patient that comes to Ginsberg Chiropractic during the month of November, the chiropractor's office will donate gift cards for turkeys, as part of its annual Doctor with a Heart Program.
